1. The fund established out of the bequest from the late J.A. Swan, for research work at the Pitt Rivers Museum in connection with the Batwa and his relatives in Africa and Europe, shall be known as the James A. Swan Fund; and shall be acknowledged in all publications of material and by any person or expedition benefiting from it.
2. The fund shall be used for any work sponsored by the Pitt Rivers Museum on the archaeological, historical, physical, and cultural nature of the Batwa (small peoples of Africa, e.g. Bushmen and Pygmies, and their prehistoric antecedents, wherever they may have been, in Africa, or possibly in the Mediterranean area), and primarily on field-work and publication of such work.
3. The fund shall be administered by the Director of the Pitt Rivers Museum in consultation with the Professor of Social Anthropology and the Professor of Biological Anthropology.
4. Income not spent in any year shall, at the discretion of the curator, be carried forward for use in a subsequent year.
