Whitehead Fund

1. The University accepts with gratitude the bequest of £10,000 from Sir George Whitehead to establish a fund to be known as the James Hugh Edendale Whitehead and George William Edendale Whitehead Fund, for the promotion of the study of the history and/or literature of England and her colonies.

2. The fund shall be administered by the Boards of the Faculties of English Language and Literature and of Modern History in accordance with arrangements authorized by Council.

3. Council shall have power to alter this decree from time to time, provided that the main purposes of the fund (namely, the promotion of the study of the history and/or literature of England and her colonies, and the association of the names of Sir George Whitehead’s sons with the objects at the University of Oxford on which the fund is expended) are always maintained.
