Part 37: Graduate Admissions Subcommittee of the Education Committee

Regulations created 31 May 2024 (Gazette, Vol. 154, pp. 437-8, 16 May 2024).

37.1 The Graduate Admissions Committee shall consist of:

(1) the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education), or their nominated deputy, who shall chair the Committee;

(2)–(5) the Associate Head of Education or their nominee from each Division;

(6) the Associate Head of Education or their nominee from the Department for Continuing Education;

(7) the Chair of the Graduate Committee of the Conference of Colleges or their nominee;

(8) a Head of House elected by the Conference of Colleges;

(9) a Tutor for Graduates elected by the Conference of Colleges;

(10) a Bursar or Domestic Bursar elected by the Conference of Colleges;

(11) one of the sabbatical trustees of Oxford University Student Union as may be agreed between them;

(12) the Director of Graduate Admissions and Recruitment;

(13) the Director of Student Fees and Funding;

(14) the Head of Residential Accommodation;

(15) a representative from Education Policy Support.

37.2 With the approval of the Education Committee on each occasion, the Subcommittee may co-opt up to two additional members.

37.3 Elected, appointed or co-opted members shall hold office for a period of three years and shall be eligible to serve for a total period of six years.

37.4 The Graduate Admissions Committee shall be responsible to Education Committee for:

(1) steering strategic change to bring transformative developments in graduate admissions;

(2) championing the applicant experience;

(3) owning the end-to-end graduate admissions process, including oversight of graduate accommodation, setting a vision for the overall process in accordance with the University’s Strategic plan, and monitoring and evaluating progress against the targets set in the Plan;

(4) establishing the roadmap to the One Offer vision, agreeing key data and improvement targets, and establishing the appropriate activities required to make progress;

(5) advocating and supporting all opportunities for streamlining and improving the current overall process;

(6) raising the profile of the graduate admissions process internally in light of the increasing significance of graduate applicants in overall student numbers.

37.5 The subcommittee will make an annual report to Council via Education Committee on the work of the Subcommittee.

37.6 The subcommittee shall meet at least twice per year
