General Information about this constituency
This constituency is comprised of one member of staff who is not a Head of Department or statutory professor but who is a member of the Faculty of Biochemistry, the Faculty of Clinical Medicine, the Faculty of Physiological Sciences and/or the Faculty of Psychological Studies elected jointly by the members of the Faculty of Biochemistry, the Faculty of Clinical Medicine, the Faculty of Physiological Sciences and the Faculty of Psychological Studies
Participation in these elections is restricted to full members of one of the four faculties within the Division of Medical Sciences (Biochemistry, Clinical Medicine, Physiological Sciences and Psychological Studies). Associate members or additional members of the faculties are not entitled to participate in these elections.
Elections to this constituency further restrict candidates to members of member of staff who are not a Head of Department or statutory professor. This means that all full members of the four faculties are eligible to nominate a candidate or to vote, but prospective candidates who want to stand for election must be a member of staff who are not a Head of Department or statutory professor.
The full term of office is four years (or less, when a by-election is held to fill the residue of the term of office for an elected member who is standing down early).
The terms of reference and membership of this body are set out in Council Regulations 17 of 2002.
The board meets twice per term (2-monthly). Meetings are scheduled for 2.5hrs (but generally run for 1.5hrs)
Members are not expected to serve on any subcommittees/groups of the board. The Board is keen to ensure that the divisional representation on this committee reflects the diversity of the staff body, as such nominations and expressions of interest are particularly encouraged from disabled individuals and racially/ethnically minoritised individuals.
