Alexander Library in the Edward Grey Institute of Field Ornithology

Made by Council on 30 June 2004. Amended by the General Purposes Committee of Council on 8 August 2014 (Gazette, Vol. 144, p. 612-615, 24 July 2014) and 1 August 2022 (Gazette, Vol. 152, p. 488, 7 July 2022)

1. The Director of the Edward Grey Institute of Field Ornithology shall be responsible, under the Head of the Department of Biology, for the maintenance and improvement of the Alexander Library and for the application of such funds, including the interest of the Edward Grey Memorial Fund, as may be allocated for the purposes of the library.

2. The library shall continue to be available for reference (but not borrowing) by members of the British Trust for Ornithology, the British Ornithologists’ Union, and the Oxford Ornithological Society, in addition to members of the University.

3. The bequests of W. B. Alexander of certain articles of furniture and paintings for the Edward Grey Institute of Field Ornithology and of the residue of his estate for the purposes of the Alexander Library, in the institute, shall be administered by the Department of Biology under delegated authority from the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Board, on the recommendation of the Advisory Council of the Edward Grey Institute of Field Ornithology.

4. Regulation 3 above may be amended by Council.
