de Sola Wright Memorial Fund

1. The University accepts with gratitude the sum of £5,000 from Francisco de Sola, and any further donations made by him or others for this purpose, to establish a fund, as a permanent memorial to Carlos de Sola Wright, formerly of St Antony’s College, for the furtherance of study or research within the University considered likely to promote the advancement or welfare of the people of Central America.

2. The fund shall be administered by a board of management, consisting of up to six persons, to be appointed by Council for such periods as it shall think fit.

3. The board of management shall apply the income of the fund, after the payment of all proper expenses, towards the provision of grants to be awarded from time to time to members of the University who are in need of financial assistance for the pursuit of postgraduate study or research for a degree of the University, provided that such study or research shall be considered by the board, in its absolute discretion, to be likely to further the advancement or welfare of the people of Central America, with priority for study or research concerning El Salvador.

4. Council shall have power to alter this decree at any time, provided the main object of the fund (namely, to commemorate the life of Carlos de Sola Wright by the furtherance of study or research within the University considered likely to promote the advancement or welfare of the people of Central America) is always maintained.
