1. The University accepts with deep gratitude a benefaction from News International plc to form a fund the income from which shall be used for the support of academic work (including the provision of library resources) by members of the Faculty of English Language and Literature, and in particular for the support of work in the area covered by the Professorship of Language and Communication, endowed by News UK.
2. The Board of the Faculty of English Language and Literature shall be the board of management of the fund and shall make such arrangements for its administration as may seem to the board to be appropriate from time to time.
3. Council shall have power to alter this decree from time to time, provided that the main object of the fund, namely the support of academic work by members of the Faculty of English Language and Literature, shall always be kept in view.
