Raphael Hauser is an Associate Professor in Mathematical Programming at the Oxford Mathematical Institute and a Tutorial Fellow in Applied Mathematics at Pembroke College Oxford. Over more than 20 years of experience he contributed to the Oxford academic community in a diverse set of roles, including Director of Graduate Studies for Teaching at the Mathematical Institute and as Vicegerent at Pembroke College, in addition to teaching and supervising students at all levels. Raphael is a past winner of the SIAM Activity Group on Optimization Prize. His research centres on the design and analysis of numerical optimisation algorithms, as well as mathematical modelling in data science, finance and medical imaging. In his free time, Raphael can often be heard playing his trumpet or encountered outdoors foraging with his family.
