Part of Council Regulations 24 of 2002: Regulations for Academic and Other Posts
1. The University accepts with gratitude the residue of the estate of the late Miss Mary Monteith Carlyle in trust to form a fund to be known as the A. J. Carlyle Fund, the income of which shall be used to finance a lecture or series of lectures on political theory, with a preference for medieval political theory if a suitable medieval scholar is available for this purpose.
2. The income from the fund shall be expended on the objects of the trust by the Boards of the Faculties of Modern History and Social Studies under arrangements to be approved by the General Board and Council.
3. The name of Carlyle shall be associated with any appointment made under the provisions of this decree.
